What is a Shoebox Scan? 

Shoebox scanning is designed for quick scanning of large print quantities. We carefully scan your images and burn them to DVD for archiving, viewing, & ordering photo copies or gifts.  

First you start off by gathering all your family’s wallet sized photos up to 8.5x14 sized photos. Any images bigger than 8.5x14 look at our oversize scanning category below. Next you put them into a Ross Imaging Center prepaid shoebox kit or bring in your own box of any size with all your families photos. Next we carefully scan your images and burn them to a DVD. In most cases you can pick up your originals and the DVD 3-5 Business days however we offer expedited services for last minute memorial services (Click here to see more celebration of life options) as well as birthday parties and any other last minute needs. The best part is it is all done right at our store! If you would like to have specific sets of images split up into separate folders we do offer that service for an additional $15.95 for up to 10 folders. For the Shoebox program, the photos are scanned at 300 dpi, however, we do offer a resolution upgrade of 600dpi for an additional $9.95 or 1200dpi for an additional $14.95.

With the shoebox scanning kit you receive a Ross Imaging Center, you bring the box home, fill it up with your precious family prints, and bring it back into the store. What is different? by ordering a Ross Imaging Center Shoebox Scanning Kit you can fit the box with up to 1200 images and you receive a complementary resolution upgrade to 600 dpi. This value typically costs $109.90, however, when you order a Shoebox kit you save $25.00 at a value of $94.95.

Shoebox Scan preparation:

For the process we only accept loose individual photos for our shoe box scanning so remove photos from albums, frames or envelopes. Failure to do so will result in an additional removal fee.

Please take the time to make sure no stickers, staples, paper clips, post-it notes, etc are attached. 

Remove all tape, glue or any other form of attachment from all of your prints.

If you would like your photos to be scanned in a specific order then please write the number on the back of each photo or place a sticky note on the photos.

Please Note: Anything (i.e. water marks, scratches, pen marks, crease lines etc.) that is on the photograph will be scanned and be visible on the scan. It is our policy to make every effort possible to protect the rights of professional photographers. We will not accept clearly copyrighted work without the written permission of the photographer/creator; they will be returned unscanned. 

Shoebox Exceptions:

Any prints that are larger than 8.5x14, prints that are too fragile, prints that have any tape or glue or any other reason we think they should be scanned differently in order to prevent damage to the print as well as our scanners. Larger prints are $6.95 per image or fragile/damaged images are between $1.25-$1.50 depending on the condition.
